Hmmmm, I don’t think I’ve found that place yet. Sometimes I think I’m on the verge of it and then it doesn’t quite pan out all the way. How about you, are you in that place? How do you get to that place if you don’t have a job that fulfills you in that way? You just have to do things in your spare time that you feel are significant and meaningful? Is it just a small minority of people that are able to achieve this in their lives?
I’m not unhappy–I just wish I had a “calling.” It would be fun if it involved photography and blogging.

I have found deep gladness…I feel it right now.I believe it happens when you find balance in your life. I started reading “Simple Abundance” it has really helped lead me on a path of joy and comfort.
Hopefully Candance you’ll find something or someone that will inspire you..because it’s an awesome feeling.
In the mean time keep blogging and keep up the beautiful photography.

Your post is very timely. Just yesterday I was thinking about my own calling and I don’t think I’ve found it yet either. Unless I have…but I just don’t know it? God does work in mysterious ways…

I think it’s different for everyone. I don’t think it’s necessary for a person to get paid for something for it to be fulfilling. But I do firmly believe a person needs satisfaction in more than one area of life, a balance, to feel fulfilled.

A beautiful color combination in those photos! As for the quotation you used, I must be a contrarian of sorts and point out that Mr. Buechner’s statement is only an opinion to some though it might be a fact for others. I can only say that it is possible to be happy and perpetually discontent at the same time and therein lies the conundrum.

My boss gave me those flowers a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised because she’s basically allergic to all flowers and she’s fairly subdued so I was surprised at the colors, too. They were really pretty, though.

That’s funny because I thought of you and I was thinking, “This is what Kelli has attained.” But if it really is fleeting, I guess I’ve experienced it now and then. I thought maybe some people had it all the time, that it could be a constant…Maybe no one can–even those that appear to others to have achieved it.

Beautiful photos of your flowers, Candace. Gorgeous color! You know, I think our calling can change as time goes by or we find different ways to fulfill the same calling. I love working with teenagers (I know, right? Teenagers!) and one door closed, but I think I’ve found a way through photography to open a different door. It has also got me thinking about other ways in which I can use photography for the greater good. It’s exciting to think about the possibilities.
