Hi, thank you for reading.  Photography and writing are two of my favorite things so blogging is the perfect creative outlet for me. I started blogging in February 2009 and have written almost 800 posts.

I’m married, a central Phoenix homeowner (I love Phoenix, specifically downtown), and a cat rescuer (we currently have 10…3 inside, 8 outside, with some other visitors, and a colony of 15 a block away…and have placed many others). I’m an alumnus of Arizona State University.

I made WordPress’s  Freshly Pressed on September 26, 2011 with this post and again on March 29, 2012 with this post! Nature is my favorite subject…birds, butterflies, anything else that crosses my path but birding and bird photography are my favorite pastimes. I’ve had some photos chosen for Friday Fotos by Arizona Highways Magazine. Here’s the album where they are all together.

 Arizona Highways also has a Photo of the Day on their website where I have had 5 photos featured.

One of my photos (of Lynx Lake) was included in a short video that Arizona Highways compiled to celebrate Nature Photography Day on June 15, 2019.

  3. As promised I’ve “walked” a few steps through your blog and certainly admire your productivity and the plethora of interests. Great site! I sincerely hope that your quest for a paying gig related to your degree comes about soon but that it it does it doesn’t stifle your creativity.     1. Thank you for the compliments. I don’t really look for paying gigs in art anymore–it’s been several years since I graduated, and I do mean quite a few–and I’ve worked for the same org for a looong time and am still gainfully employed so I think I better stick with it. If I had a job in the arts, I probably wouldn’t be working anymore now. Side gigs, though, I would certainly take! I love your blog, Earnest.

  6. I’ve enjoyed your series over quite a long time now and find your work original and very well done. I’m especially taken with the murals… what an interesting addition to a city’s appearance.

    You happened up on my blogspot blog and was surprised that I was double blogging. I’m not too happy with aminus3’s limit to picture size. Some photos I would like to show closer to full screen size. So, I’m playing around with blogspot which can do that either in the original post, or upon posting a small picture, have a larger version when the smaller one is clicked on. I don’t know whether I’ll continue on blogspot or not. I’m into Aminus3 so extensively I’d hate to quit. I did that with my-expressions where I still have hundreds of pictures…just taking up space!

    I’m a grad student, and one of my projects is to create an online database. I choose to collect and share photos of murals and other art in Phoenix.   12. Thanks for your comment on my “Post Office” post!! I look forward to getting your card. I have just recently discovered Arizona – twice teaching in Phoenix in AUGUST, at Art Unraveled, and just recently teaching in Tucson in January, with a half-day hike up in the mountains. I REALLY want to vacation in AZ, hike, and just drink in the air, the mountains, the desert, the whole thing.

  20. I posted once before but I lost it. Hopefully it’ll show up.
    Anyhowl, (pun intended), I asked about Verdins’ nests. Some nests near my sister’s home in Corona de Tucson appear similar to the photos of Verdins’ on your blog but the nests are more tunnel like and the birds who fussed at us, my sister’s neighbor Peggy and I, seemed larger and had a small crest.
    If you know what bird it is I would love to know.

  21. Hi. Just found you (and thanks for the ‘like,’ by the way. I followed your blog, and look forward to spending more time here. I took an extended train trip in February and March, and happened to go through your neck of the desert, although that part was at night, unfortunately.
