Then:
There was a housing boom.
I used a film camera and developed my own photos.
Now:
There’s a housing bust.
I use a digital camera and stick my photos into Photoshop if I think they need improvement.
I’ve got a new DSLR ordered but it’s taking forever to get in. I feel it will open up a whole new photographic world for me, kind of like in the old days.
Hope your week is going well.

Three cheers for a new digital camera. I like the contrast in these two shots too!

Right on for developing your own photos!

I like the strong, graphic quality of the first image. Nice lines and spaces done up in fine black and white tones! The bottom one seems appropriate for these strange housing times. Waiting for a new camera is the pits! It automatically slows clocks and calendars! 😉

So… which camera did you go for?

The Nikon D80, which is now discontinued because of the D90, and hard to get but I have one “allocated” to me–somewhere in Japan 🙂

Hmmm the D80, I’m guessing you already have a collection of lenses?

I have 2 lenses from my old Nikon FG but I’m also getting the 18-135 lens with the D80 (if it ever comes, that is). Are you a Nikon person?

I hate to call myself a Nikon guy, but I do have the D80 so it kind of makes me one.

Oh, I see. Do you like it and use it as your primary camera? Would you rather have the D90? I just can’t imagine wanting the video capacity but I suppose I may regret not having it at some point.

Yup I like the D80 and it is my primary camera. I think the D90 is one stop faster and I’ve also heard that it focuses faster, both attributes I could use.
I’ve spent more time with video than still. I find it is many times harder to master than still. Post processing is mandatory and very time consuming.
You should like your D80 when it gets there.

I got it! Supposedly the last one to be shipped anywhere. The original one fell through and they had to locate another. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use it. It’s cool-looking and feels good, though.

Now comes the best part, happy shooting.
